I have always had an obsession with big brands. It amazes me how big brands like Nike and BMW have remained consistent. The two brands were my biggest influences. My obsession doesn’t end there. I have also wondered how all the elements of their brands are magically held together. In line with this never-ending curiousity, I created a brand called Luko Pinheiro Consulting (an abbreviation of my other name Oluwakorede). This consulting service which I planned would house both my architecture and branding skill set. Years down the line, I found myself in advertising. Little by little, there was this spark and overwhelming interest in taking pictures. So, I’d pull out my iphone and look for interesting angles of buildings. Then, I’d post them on VSCO. The feedback was always positive. After a while, I made up my mind to go into proper photography and here I am.

The power of positive feedback has been quite helpful since I started.  In fact, that has actually what has kept pushing me. In the beginning, I had ample of reasons to give up. Somehow, I would counterweight it with enough reasons not to give up. There are a lot of creatives out there who are doing so well and it can be quite challenges standing out from all the great talents out there. Unfortunately, we live in a country where the creativity industry is stifled and clients being clients usually have cautious budgets and creative expectations as regards projects. All hope is not lost because I’ve grown with few of my contemporary. A marathon is the best way to describe this journey.

I have heard people say some people were made for one talent or the other. I am not sure anyone is made for anything. To an extent, I beg to differ. I think it is interest and consistency that hones out talents.  I honestly feel photography at this point of my life is now part of my journey. Not sure if this has a destination but I am just enjoying the process one day at a time.

I have spent the last couple of years building my media company, Visual Africa. In the next couple of years, I plan on pivoting into films; short movies and eventually the big screen later on. The movie industry is quite complex and I’m still taking my time to understand the complexity.
